Sullivan Creative Wins Three NEDMA Awards for Creative Excellence

Newton, MA/Dunbarton, NH — Sullivan Creative received three creative excellence awards at the New England Direct Marketing Association (NEDMA) Annual Awards Competition on June 11 at the Roxy in Boston. One of the key judging criteria is results, and Sullivan Creative demonstrated its ability to meet its clients’ marketing objectives for projects in the following categories:

Consumer Catalog Category
In this category, Sullivan Creative won a gold award for a recruitment catalog developed for Boston University’s Summer Term program, and a silver award for a New Hampshire Made’s Guide to Products and Services.

BUSummerTerm Sullivan Creative’s design of a four-color, 140-page course catalog helped Boston University Summer Term distinguish itself from other summer programs. The design and layout aided in promoting the advantages of spending the summer studying at Boston University. The cover used an illustration of the BU campus arising from an open book – showing how Boston is part of the learning experience at Boston University. The content was clearly formatted for easy use, and featured photography and coordinating graphic elements. The catalog is a key fulfillment piece for student inquiries. The Summer Term program saw a 3.5% increase in enrollment and a 6.5% increase in revenue increase over the previous year.

NHMade New Hampshire Made is a marketing organization whose mission is to increase the awareness of, and demand for, New Hampshire-made products and services. It has more than 750 businesses throughout New Hampshire. One of New Hampshire Made’s primary cooperative marketing vehicles is its Guide to New Hampshire Products and Services, a catalog that is distributed in tourist areas and retail areas throughout New Hampshire. Sullivan Creative designed the Guide so that that would stand out amidst the clutter of tourist and retail materials. It features a clean design and full-color cover with beautiful photos and bright colors not often seen on newsprint. New Hampshire Made's website was featured. The member profiles were formatted in a clean, organized fashion that made it easy for readers to find products and services they were interested in. After the guide was distributed, New Hampshire Made reported an increase in visitors to its website. A large percentage of its members reported increased sales with customers who cited the guide. New Hampshire Made also increased its membership by 15% in 2007, as a result of pieces like this guide.

Sullivan Creative won a silver award for a promotional campaigned it developed to communicate with existing and prospective clients – marketing executives and staff in corporations and non-profit agencies; business owners; and colleagues. Sullivan Creative took advantage of a weather related event to reach out to clients and prospects. In the aftermath of an April nor'easter, a mother duck left its flooded nesting grounds along the banks of the Charles River in Newton and laid her eggs inside a planter outside of the Sullivan Creative office building. Sullivan Creative held a contest to to see who could accurately guess the hatch time of the first duckling. An electronic press release sent to clients, prospects, and local media described the scenario, directing people to visit the Sullivan Creative website to see photos, check on the progress of the eggs, and to enter a contest for two free tickets for a Boston Duck Tour. The promotion was very well received, with contest entries from eight percent of Sullivan Creative’s database.
